ABOUT THE TEACHER
Dear Friends,
Circle circle dot dot, 5th grade really hits the spot! I am thrilled to be your teacher for the 2013-2014 school year at SCPS! I know that we are going to have a wonderful year. I feel blessed to have been given the important role of teacher in your child’s life. Please know that it is not a role I take lightly and I hope to provide an excellent education in a nurturing environment where your student will continue to grow into the young man or woman that the Lord has designed. I worked all summer to prepare the classroom and delve into the curriculum in order to be ready for the students! The classroom looks great; feel free to drop by and visit anytime! Thank you in advance for your support this year!
About me
I am a native of Indiana. I graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree from Georgia Southern University in Informational Technology.
My husband Rob and I just celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary. Rob teaches Math and coaches baseball at Islands High School. We have 3 children. Our son Cade is a fourth grader at SCPS, our daughter Cora is a second grader Raider, and we have a three and a half year old daughter named Clara. Outside of school I enjoy reading, exercising, going to the beach, and spending time with my family. We attend the East Campus of Savannah Christian church where you will often find me serving in children’s ministry in one capacity or another! I taught first grade at SCPS for 4 1/2 years. I left when my daughter Cora was diagnosed with Leukemia and given a three year chemotherapy protocol! I’m SO HAPPY to report that God has healed Cora through the excellent medical care she received! We’ve had a front row seat to watch God work and we’re stronger for it! I'm a Raider at heart, and was very excited to return to SCPS as a fifth grade teacher two year. This begins my eleventh year in the classroom.
Stay Informed- Be sure to ask your student about school daily. Check their homework binder nightly. This is the place you will find important notes and homework. Please know that I will contact you as soon as possible if I feel that your child is not progressing or behaving as expected.
Stay Involved - I LOVE parent help in the classroom. When I have extra help with monotonous classroom tasks, it frees me up to work on planning exciting activities for the students. I would love to have classroom parent volunteers on a regular basis. If you have an extra hour or so every couple of weeks, please let me know and I'd love to have your help! Also, all parents are invited to our classroom parties, chapel programs, and other special events! Parents are a VITAL part of our school! Thanks for all that you do!
Ask Questions- If you have any questions or concerns at any time throughout the year, please come to me with them! I always have your student’s best interest in mind and I’d love to hear your concerns and feedback. Often conflicts arise from miscommunication and I want to work with you to solve conflicts before they become problems! The best way to reach me is via phone or email. My email address is [email protected]. Would you please send me an email in the next few days so that I can have your correct email address to send you updates and notifications?
Thank you for sharing your child with me this year! I look forward to getting to know each of you!
Sincerely,
Mandy Garola
